Wild animals like snakes, parrots, iguanas, lizards, tortoises, and even otters are cruelly snatched from their natural habitat to cater to the multibillion-dollar global wildlife trade. Wild animals belong in the wild, and we should only share our homes with domestic animals who have evolved over thousands of years to be our companions.

Around the world, more than 3,000 dolphins have been bred in captivity or taken from the wild to be used for entertainment in tourism venues. Dolphins are intelligent and social creatures that have entire coastlines as their playground. In captivity, all of this is lost. Together, with animal lovers like you, we have been campaigning to end their suffering for over three decades now.

Bears are beautiful, extremely intelligent, great runners and swimmers. Unfortunately, many of these sentient beings are exploited for their bile to be used in traditional Asian medicine. To fuel this trade, bears are often kept captive in cages in so-called farms, where their bile is typically extracted from their abdomen. But thanks to animal lovers like you, there are more bears in sanctuaries than on bile farms in Vietnam today. Together, we can give every bear a life worth living.

Many tourist destinations have delicacies that travellers may be tempted to try. But it is always good to do some research on how a certain dish is made and then proceed to make an informed decision about consuming it. Many can be a result of extreme animal cruelty such as shark fin soup, monitor lizard or snake satay, tiger wine, and civet coffee (kopi luwak). Together, we all can play our part to protect wild animals – to help keep them thriving in the wild, where they belong.

Our ‘Bred for Profit’ report revealed that the captive population of Australia’s native saltwater crocodiles is now larger than those living free, with an estimated 135,000 languishing in farms in the Northern Territory, compared to only about 100,000 in the wild. Despite having a natural lifespan of 70+ years, farmed crocodiles’ lives are cut short at just two or three years old to make non-essential luxury items. But thanks to thousands of animal lovers like you, the Australian Government was moved to review the outdated Code of Practice that governs this cruel trade.

In Australia, about 700 million chickens are raised for meat, many of them in factory farms. A majority of these chickens grow to full size and are killed in just 5-6 short weeks. The unnaturally fast growth leaves them riddled with health issues including broken bones and heart and lung failure. With support from animal lovers like you, we’re strongly calling on fast-food brands like KFC Australia to sign the Better Chicken Commitment, a commitment that will ensure they use slower growing breeds and give their chickens more room to move and express their natural behaviours.

Many wild animals are being inhumanely ripped from their mothers at an early age just to take selfies with unsuspecting tourists. Amongst billions of images posted on Instagram, we found that there were tens of thousands of cruel selfies on social media platforms taken with wild animals. Sadly, sharing cruel wildlife selfies on social media encourages more people to take their own photos. But with ongoing help from animal lovers like you, we’re working to put an end to this cruelty.
